Main character is a bit annoying at first with him being a pseudo-archaeologist and all, but the plot is very good! It very much scratches my itch for pseudo archaeological fiction, I was so intrigued in what would happen next that I managed to read it all in one night!

Not great writing - first person narrative is awkward since the main character uses a syntax that really doesn't fit his Hollywood character. Also feels like the author really wanted to have a deeper message to the sci-fi story and shoe horned it in, but it didn't fit and came off awkward.

It held my attention but quite a bit of it went on and on and felt like it was very impressed with itself…

I waffled between 4 and 5 stars, but settled on 4 - not one of my favorite books of all time, but a highly enjoyable and gripping read, perfect for the summer. The story goes in a direction it would be very hard to expect or guess, and it all ties together. It’s a combination of Indiana Jones, X Files, and mythology, and I didn’t want to put it down. The characters are rich and not caricatures, and humor is used to good effect. The pace is also good, and the chapter breaks are used well. It’s not horribly deep, but I am impressed that the author came up with the story! Extremely creative.
I haven't had this much fun with a high-adventure yarn since I was a teenager. Nolan Moore is a YouTube sensation with a few seasons worth of his explorations into the world of the paranormal, the unexplained and the unexplored. He is accompanied by his producer Ken, girl-friday Molly, and resolute cameraman Pierre.
His latest excursion takes Nolan and his crew to a hidden entrance to a series of caverns a quarter of a mile down a sheer cliff above the Grand Canyon. The group climbs up the cliff from the bottom of the Grand Canyon and enter into a cavernous world of huge chambers connected by long passages with mysterious petraglyphs depicting unsettling events and strange animals and beings chiseled into the rock walls and ceilings.
This novel is marked by amusing, smart exchanges between the characters and pulse-pounding suspenseful passages throughout. The real terror begins about halfway into the book and the absolute horror starts in the last third.
I had a great time with this novel. I fully intend to purchase and read the 2nd entry in this series very soon.
Highest recommendation!
