Lovely descriptive story about migration, loneliness and coming of age. I really wanted to know what happened to Eilish, and still enjoyed the ending. Some parts made you a little frustrated at the main character and there was a lot of focus on small details. I generally enjoy this in a novel, as it helps me to feel connected to the environment and characters. Solid 4*

The writing style was so easy to read and I really enjoyed the pacing and plot of the book. Sometimes I wanted to knock eilis on the head, especially in the last part but I'm glad it ended the way it did. I thought homesickness and loneliness was captured really well in the beginning of the novel. As well as grief in the middle.

This was a fantastic book, although I think I enjoyed the movie more. I definitely got more of a sense who Eilis was in the movie. I think the biggest shock for me was in the book, I really don’t know that Eilis ever loved Tony, considering the movie, for me, was a beautiful love story.
