I thought the book was ok, I loved the plot and characters but I wish there would have been more background on the story.

'In The Shadow of the Throne' by Kate Sheridan with art by Gaia Cardinali is a graphic novel about a young man who wishes to be somewhere else and suddenly finds himself there.

Jordan is not happy with his life, and when he suddenly finds himself on another world where magic is real, he thinks he's got his perfect life. He saves the life of Prince Astel and finds himself in the middle of a mystery.

It's a by-the-numbers fantasy that left me with questions like how did Jordan make it to this world? There is also a romance that seemingly goes nowhere, but maybe it's a placeholder for future story.

honestly, i didn’t go into this with any high expectations but i was still let down. the story felt rushed and didn’t make a lot of sense. the character development wasn’t well written and the characters had no personality. there was little to no chemistry between the main love interests which i found heavily disappointing. i wish things had been explained better and honestly i wish this story could have been a span of several volumes instead of one. the potential for this story is overwhelming but the author couldn’t seem to deliver upon it! :/ however, the art was beautiful and i’m always a fan of queer rep, even if it’s disappointing!
