It's out! Seiko confessed at the end of the previous volume and now we're dealing with the fallout of everyone's reactions, as well as whatever's going to happen as she's sitting in jail. Seiichi is finally able to, with difficulty, to say his mom did indeed push his cousin off that cliff. We see this as a start to him breaking free from his mom since she's in jail currently, but are we hopeful that this will last or will he face something that will cause him to regress again? That policeman at the station who told him that he's his own person really makes you think back to all the panels of mom and son together. You wonder if indeed it's always been this way. Makes you question the husband's whole role in their family. We don't see much of him, and all that we get from Seiko is that she doesn't think he's "on her side." So now that we have a forceful separation of mother and son, what will happen to Seiichi and his dad?
On another note, we see what happened to Seiichi as a child, an event his aunt alluded to in the previous volume. So my questions as to Seiko's behavior...well, perhaps her break happened before her marriage? We still don't know much about her past, except for her saying she felt unloved, neglected, and again that no one was "on her side." Makes me wonder how her and her husband met and what that courtship was like. The poor cat makes another appearance, but at least we understand the significance now.

i'm starting to have serious issues with the pacing and tone of this series. its constant need to repeat itself and tendency to suddenly change genre (now we're doing a police procedural) is frustrating. i do like the reveal at the end of this book but i'm definitely getting less interested in the series
