Fantastic book from Jenny Lawson. I really loved her approach toward mental illness and I recommend that anyone with a mental illness or with a friend or family member of a mentally ill person (and a sense of humor) should read this novel. The audiobook was fantastic and I want my own Rory.

If you read one book this year with a taxidermy animal on the front, it should be this book.

Boy this was hard to finish!!! I didn't like the audiobook coz it made me loose interest quite easily but tried my best to keep listening till the end.
The serious parts were nice and that is the reason I'm giving this book two stars because there were few of them. The "funny" parts weren't so funny to me so most of the book I was quite bored. I don't think this was a terrible book, although I understand where people who thought it was came from.

All and all I'm happy I finished it. Don't think I'll read anything from this author in the future though.

I feel like I didn't get it off this book what I thought I would have. Some of it is definitely relatable. It reminded me of the professor from community that tells Jeff to seize the day. But in ways that aren't always feasible. This book definitely gave me a laugh and some things to reflect on. But it was a lot of words that were just okay?

3.5 stars. Get ready for a stream of consciousness! Probably doesn’t help that I listened to the audiobook on 1.75x. 😂Jenny does a great job of describing mental illness, anxiety, depression, and how they affect your daily life. Even if you aren’t diagnosed with any of those, you have to be crazy not to see at least a little bit in yourself. She talks about getting on a plane and worrying to death getting there, then being fine once she’s on the plane - that resonated with me. And then you land, and then how are you going to find where you’re going? Cue the worrier.
Great audiobook, read by Jenny. :)

Fun book that inspired a healthy attitude. Some of the stories are not as strong or in the book for arbitrary reasons, but overall pretty enjoyable.

Kinda thought it was a self help book but it's a memoir. No doubt.

TW: self-harm, suicide, mental illness
This was pretty funny and I laughed out loud. Many of the chapters aren’t “about” her mental illness but are just funny life stories she’s collected over the years, funnily told.
I stayed for the humor but I almost didn’t finish because of the stories with her husband. He made me severely uncomfortable because in nearly every interaction he was an asshole to her. There are moments where he was amazing to her and supportive, but during her quirky moments he was downright mean. Every time it was chalked up to “well, I am a crazy person whose miserable to be around and he’s a saint for dealing with me!” While I can see how she’d be exhausting, this mentality in their marriage made me really uncomfortable. No one should have a spouse who fuels their self hatred. I looked up the author expecting her to be divorced but they’re still together. I really hope for her sake that those scenes are exaggerated.
