In terms of writting style/resources, some things get a little repetitive after so many books, but in terms of story this book doesn't dissapoint one bit, and it honors the name, as I can guess many things will change from here, hopefully bringing some fresh air in certain aspects, this book has the feeling of a major inflection point in the series.

There are some flaws but are basically the same across the series, so if those are dealbreaking for you, you probably droped the series long ago

Wow. There were some surprises in this book I didn't see coming. Yet, all the characters dealt with them in ways that felt totally authentic. This series keeps improving.

This had be a string contender for the best of the Dresden novels. Then the gimmick ending came along, dropping this from a high four to a middling three stars.

The through line of this book was weak. There were clearly beats and plot points that needed to be hit, but there was no impetus or movement for them. They didn't feel earned rightly. I get what the author was going for, but it was slippery.

That being said, the book kicks like a mule,l at times.
