The Dresden Files has been in need of a big shakeup for a while, and this book delivered. Cinematic, epic, and in terms of lasting consequences, maybe the most important book in the series (that I've read, that is).
The book where things really start changing. I am glad that I read this after the sequel had come out because I would not have been able to wait for the next one.
Ch-ch-changes as David Bowie would have it, and as dramatic as Bowie himself.
I'm gradually reading my way through the series and I'm glad I'm doing it.
Definitely a book that turns what I have read so far at least 90° around, I'm curious to see how the following noveles develop. I'll definitely meet you again in 2022, Harry!

Uhm, what? That's my review, need to start the next book right now!
Really enjoyable. Unfortunately I had to take a star off because if I had to read the phrase my little girl one more time the book was getting tossed into the fireplace.
The reason I enjoyed this particular installment so much was the vast amount of permanent character development that occurred. We've been dancing around so many things for such a long time that it was really nice to see Harry do something that we get to hear about in the next one.

This is the best of the Dresden Files series. For quite some time I thought it was the end of the series as well. All the prior books lead to this one. The allies, secondary characters, and most of the surviving villains are either here or mentioned in a way that makes you remember how important they were. It is a culmination in every sense.
Then there is the plot. And the action. And the dialog. From the first line, "They've taken our daughter" to the final scene, this book rivets the attention and pulls you along. Rather than risk spoilers with all the things I love about this book, I will just give it my strongest recommendation: One of my five favorite books.

Maybe I say this every time I read one of these books, but I think this one may have been the best one yet. I'm ready to read the next one now, too. I don't want to give anything away, but I will note that if I were to be writing an essay about this novel, my topic would be how the title is perfect for the story.
Hooooly crap. This book was a roller coaster from the first line, when I nearly crashed my car because I was screaming at the audiobook "WHATT?? WHAAAAAT??!" (I didn't read the back of the book, in my defense).
I had heard this book was a game changer, as one would expect given the title, but I wasn't quite expecting THIS much.
I powered through it in about three days - couldn't put it down. The freaking ending, man...

The Beetle? Gone. The apartment? Gone. Harry aligning with Mab?? Whaaaat? Harry having a kid? OMFG. Ebenezer being Harry's granddad??!? Mind. Blown.I powered through it in about three days - couldn't put it down. The freaking ending, man...
Butcher typically follows a formulaic writing style with his Dresden Files novels, and Changes is no different. The series is a fun, addictive read. It's what I consider light reading. Having said that, Butcher throws a curve ball at fans of the Dresden Files with a killer ending in Changes. Butcher has definitely left me wanting more!
