Fun fact: George Bernard Shaw is the only person ever to have received both a Nobel Prize in Literature and an Academy Award. Most people are familiar with Pygmalion's basic storyline, but the original play contains deeper messages than the other versions, such as My Fair Lady, do. The ending leaves the audience hanging, though my Kindle edition came with the "sequel" that Shaw apparently wrote after realizing that people can't think for themselves (duh!). Still, Pygmalion boasts some of the most intriguing characters and is a lot of fun to read (probably more fun to see at the theater). Also, considering aspects of Shaw's own life makes the reading especially interesting.

Henry Higgins and his friend, Colonel Pickering, make a bet that Higgins can take a common flower girl, Eliza Doolittle, and transform her into a lady by teaching her to speak correctly. Low rating because some parts were so confusing. There was one section where Mr Higgins called Eliza a slut, but in the same breath spoke to how proud he was of her?? He was dead set so nasty to her all the time. But I get it 'she's an independent woman who can hold her own now'. Miss girl knows her worth which we love.
