Choices. What choice would you make? This book is moving and powerful. Not at all what I expected. What a journey!
I enjoyed the story a lot...I thought it was easy to read though heart-breaking at times...the two main characters, Little Bee and Sarah, are well developed and you just want to hug Sarah's 4 year old son, Charlie...in the book club I'm in a few people thought the story was a bit contrived...I understand why they'd feel that way....but if you just read it as a story, it is well done.
I just finished this one and I'm still in processing it mode. I enjoyed it, even though I felt it moved slowly, but the story was good and moving. It's hard to say too much without giving the story lines away.
Chris Cleave did a great job using two points of view, both women.
Even now, months later, I still have some unanswered questions (holes).
I did enjoy the book as an overall , make you think kind of book.

Hauntingly beautiful story written effortlessly from two perspectives at once.
Very original premise. Impressed a man wrote two strong, interesting female characters. Very cinematic, I think they are already making this into a movie.
This book certainly did not "blow me away," as it states on the cover. I felt that the story in itself was eh and the ending was INSANE. I would take this book at face value: it's just a story about a Nigerian girl and the atrocities she's faced in her life.
This book... My oh my where do I being? I bought this book on a whim nearly two years ago. I started reading it about a year ago but found myself bored half way into the first chapter and put it down. Then now, during the 2016 BooktubeAThon, one of the challenges was to read a book you discovered through YouTube (which this was) and I figured it was time to pick it back up. I couldn't have made a better decision.
While reading this book I never wanted to put it down (which is excellent for a reading marathon). I found the story so captivating and inspiring. It truly is an incredible book. The only downfall was the stupid ending!!!! A CLIFFHANGER?! WHYYY!!!! (Takes a deep breath) Anyway.... Other than the ending being totally up to interpretation, this book was perfect. It isn't the kind of book I'd normally pick up, but nonetheless I highly recommend that everyone gives it a try! It's worth it!!

"You start off thinking you can kill all the baddies and save the world. Then you get a bit older, maybe Little Bee's age, and you realize some of the world's badness is inside you, that maybe you're a part of it. And then you get a little bit older still, and a bit more comfortable, and you start wondering whether that badness you've seen in yourself is really all that bad. You start talking about ten percent."
