Ethan should not have been forgiven so easily, he gaslit and made our girl think she was an awful person for BEING AWARE OF HER SURROUNDINGS

First let me say, this was super cute and overall I enjoyed it. However, I had to get over a few things in order to really like it.

1. It didn’t seem very realistic. Olive running into the CEO of a company that she literally got hired at 5 minutes ago in Maui (they live in Minnesota) was already a stretch. THEN you add in Ethan running into a newly engaged ex on top of that and we’re really grasping at straws here. Let’s say it’s all for the sake of a story. I’ll pretend it’s not unrealistic… but then…

2. Dane. How in the world can one guy be SUCH a tool and there not be any red flags??? I just don’t understand. There’s no way Ami didn’t see any red flags prior to marrying him. Like he was able to put on that much of an act with her? So much so that she was willing to believe him over her own sister? I don’t buy it.

All that aside, when I just pretend those things don’t bother me, the story was cute and I did find myself wanting to keep reading. Also the entire paintball scene commentary was hilarious. I legit laughed out loud.

look i liked the first half of this book, it had me laughing at some of their banter buttttttt what really ruined it for me was the MAIN problem they had to face and tackle near the end that i was so disappointed on how they dealt w it. i felt lacking and like things were forgiven and brushed off so easily.

I really liked this enemies-to-lovers, forced proximity, there was only one bed romance. It felt like the epitome of the genre, and I liked that the banter continued the whole way through the book.

The whole subplot with Dane and Ami was a nice background story that obviously affected Olive and Ethan, but
it felt a bit overblown in the narrative. It makes no sense that Dane would wait until after the wedding to hit on Olive, especially one she was dating Ethan. Why not earlier in the relationship? It just seemed weird and unnecessary. There were other, better ways to get Olive to decide to share his cheating ways with Ami.

I also don't understand why Olive's boss fired her, but also why she told him the pre-Maui version; why not say that he's her boyfriend?

Overall, very fun with a tiny bit of steam and flirty banter. I love that they don't magically lose their differences and opinions; they deal with their differences and hold their ground.
