This was a super charming, sweet, and funny enemies-to-lovers romance. The banter was very well done. I’ve been reading some heavier books lately, and this was a great pick-me-up.

This was my first rom-com book and thoroughly enjoyed it. It didn’t seem too cliche and I loved the banter

How many comedic scrapes can these people get into, you may wonder. Too many.

Now THIS is a Christina Lauren book that isn’t overrated!!
Honestly, the very best thing about this story? It was fun as hell, but it was also REAL. Look, I love the romance genre- I think that’s clear from my choices- but I’d be lying if I said I didn’t sometimes get sick of the same old formula. You know what formula I’m talking about: meet cute, fall in love, bang at some point, then a conflict at 70-80% before the HEA. And yes, this story had all that to varying degrees, but the conflict was actually believable and not the result of miscommunication. Honestly, I don’t know what I would have done if I would’ve had to choose between my boyfriend and a close family member. (After marriage, I would choose my man every time, but after dating for just a couple weeks? That’s a lot to ask). I did not envy Ethan’s position. But at the same time, Olive was absolutely in the right for sticking to her guns. I was so proud of her. So it was a conflict that didn’t make you want to smack either of them (okay, maybe Ethan a tiny bit, but that was because of his naïveté, which was as cute as it was frustrating).
But even if the climax wouldn’t have been done so well, I still would have enjoyed reading this, because it is light and fun and cute. Ethan is the kind of hero I’ve been very into lately: smart, funny, and well-adjusted. Olive is even better, really. She has insecurities, sure, but she’s a strong woman with goals, intelligence, and an big, incredible family.
Here’s the thing: I was sad that I couldn’t stay in that world for another story! I looked around a little for another character’s story but sadly, I didn’t see it. For someone that doesn’t love series, that’s a big deal for me to say. So no, this wasn’t perfect, but it was definitely worth reading... and I’d do it again!
