this has got to be my new favorite poetry collection. Putuma puts all her emotions out there in her writing and it sings and shouts at you. it’s an amazing piece of work! i’d love to listen to the audiobook version & want to read everything else she’s written. this collection explores Blackness, being Black in south africa, queerness, grief, violence, growing up… it was so rich.
my favorite poems were no easter sunday for queers, graduation, water, mountain, and on black solidarity
