I received this book in a Goodreads giveaway and here is my honest opinion.

When I first opened this book I didn't realize it was a collection of short stories, which I probably should have since it said 'stories' on the front, but anyway, I was pleasantly surprised when I started reading. I am usually more interested in novels, but each of these short stories pulled me in and was written in a way that made it almost impossible to put down. The stories all seemed to delve into the main characters love life and their outlook on everything, most of the time their outlook was bleak, but it still made for a good interesting read. This is not the type of book I would normally read, but I have to say I honestly enjoyed it. I would definitely recommend it to someone looking for a short read with a bunch of interesting characters that makes you think. I'm glad I got the chance to pick up this book and read.

Completely captivating and disarming. There's a revelation to take your breath away in every one of its twenty-one stories. Slim as they are, each is a wonder to behold. After reaching the end, I immediately wanted to dive back in, to rediscover the surprises woven into the deeply human characters and to uncover more that I'm sure I missed. Not a word is wasted, and the sentences read as though they were written for you. The familiarity Williams seems to have with each character is stunning, given the variety in these pages. And the ending is pitch-perfect, valiantly earned. I'll be going back to this again and again.
