Love is a hard word to use when reviewing a book like this, so I won't say I loved it. I didn't. I was engrossed by it, horrified by it, saddened by it, and inspired by it. The injustices were so rampant. It is shameful that it happened in a country dedicated to justice for all. We have much work yet to do.
What a tragic read. A nonfiction novel about the countless injustices on death row in the south, many of which were sentenced as children. A spotlight for how broken our justice system truly is.
Bryan Stevenson is doing important and difficult work, securing justice for those we deserve it most but rarely receive it. There is much to learn and consider from the stories he tells in this book, they will stay with me for a long time.
Difficult content to read, but worth the knowledge and eye opening details.
I liked the way Stevenson was the narrator and author, giving an over arching story with one prisoner while each chapter focusing on a different part of the justice system.
I am still amazed that we have come so far as a country but there are obvious biases in the justice system.

This book was an amazing read! Bryan Stevenson does a wonderful job of addressing issues in our criminal justice system and I feel connected to the people in the book and their stories.
