Going back through and rereading this series.
It's been a while, so it's like a new book with faint familiarity.
I believe the previous book, even though it says book 1, is more of a prequel. This has more of Will Trent in the book; you get more information and history about his character.
We meet Faith Mitchell a future new partner of Will's.
In this mystery a young girl is found murdered and brutalized, but right away Will finds something off with the situation.
Is the victim who they thought or someone else? If it's someone else, where is the girl who they thought it was. A murder and a missing person. Lots of twisty connections.

Another quick read. This isn’t my favorite genre in the world, but I think interspersing this series with other books will help break things up. Slaughter is such a detailed writer that it's easy to lose yourself in the storytelling. This story specifically wasn’t quite as captivating as the first one, but I like that you were never quite sure who the killer was. Also, more child pedophile stuff....
