This book uses some words that are outdated and offensive towards trans people, disabled people, and women's sexuality. It is not a major part of the book but it is jarring to read them in 2024.

This second book was the first episode of the TV series, but there were many digressions, and the characters that seemed so perfectly cast in the first book were also quite different in this second one. I can appreciate both for their similarities and variances. It’s like two for one in the entertainment value - like so many what if tropes. I think I’ll stop comparing the two with the third book and simply enjoy the book for what it is.
