It was good for a quick read, and I guess it was entertaining enough, but everything was pretty forgettable. It wasn’t particularly bad or offensive, just.... very cliché and uninteresting.
“Some Grub” was my favorite out of the six. I actually did enjoy that one—I thought the story-telling character was immediately hatable (means he has a solid personality), and I liked the switching between immersion in the story and coming back to the atmosphere of the diner. The waitress’s unassuming comment as she drops the coffee was an “oh shit” moment.

Overall, I wouldn’t recommend paying money for the book, but if you find it at your local library like I did and just feel like reading some horror comics, it’s not the worst choice you could make. ...Not the best choice you could make, either. Go pick up some Junji Ito.

Solid 3.5. Definitely better than the first volume.

Very much along the lines of Tales From the Crypt comics - this was loads of scary, creepy fun!

Another excellent anthology of horror!

I rather love the Groundscreeper! I also like how he separates the stories, and I get a little thrill of anticipation before I turn the page to see what style of artwork I will be treated to in the next story.

My favorite in this edition was the bounty hunter in the snowy mountains.

Another fine edition of horror stories in this graphic novel.

Of course, I loved the thinly-veiled Trump comeuppance story. I also loved "Fear Itself".

I was not a fan of the cat intros. I missed the Groundscreeper. I didn't get that "what's the artwork going to be?!" anticipation, as the cat intros weren't always placed to allow for it. Also, the cat intros weren't even set inbetween every story. M-mmm - did not like that.

The story with all words and almost no artwork... that was a very good story!

Through interlibrary loan, I finally got my hands on the first one. Yay!

There was a huge sticker on the front, so I couldn't see the cover art, but the second-to-the-last page had it again, so that was cool.

My favorites in this one were:
At Sea
the one with the bugs
Notice to Quit

There wasn't as much variety in the artwork that I've been finding in the later issues, but good art and stories all around!

Again, not a big fan of the cat intros. They aren't bad, really, but they seem to be trying to tell their own disjointed story, and I don't get that little anticipatory thrill the Groundscreeper gives by hiding the next page. I like that thrill. What's the artwork going to be like on this one?!

All these stories were quite good!
(Except for "I Hate the Light". There are three victims, two women, and one man. All three get raped. The rape scenes were completely unnecessary and did nothing at all to progress the story. Could've had the same creepy horror without having to throw all the rape in there.)

This was so disappointing and tremendous levels of boring, sadly. None of the stories are particularly creepy, which would be fine if they weren't also so unimaginative and predictable. It's one of those collections that I think would've never drawn anyone's attention if it didn't have such a big name tied to it, which is always really unfortunate. I have volume 2 out from the library as well right now so I may try flipping through it to see if it gets any better than this one did, but if I didn't already have it checked out, I absolutely would not bother picking it up just based on how little there was to redeem volume 1.
