I think I would have enjoyed reading this as opposed to listening to the audible version. It took me a while to get into the story - care what was happening - perhaps a bit too verbose for me. But once it turned - I was riveted. An important, timeless story.

A nice follow up to The Violin Conspiracy! It's a swift moving story. I enjoyed the dual timelines of the present and the past; it's both a thriller and a nice examination of who owns art and artistic appropriation. A note: The central plot twist is paramount to the book and its themes, but I still wish the official blurb hadn't ruined it.

wow. what a terrifying picture of how an image of kindness can turn into a self-serving tool. this is a story of appropriation and corruption, and my LORD, it kept me on the edge of my seat the entire ride. i will never recover.

I loved The Violin Conspiracy and this is even better. Slocumb has a way of making you invest in the central topic - violins, composition. Great plot, pacing and characters. Looking forward to the next one! Thanks to NetGalley and the publisher for a free copy in exchange for my honest opinion.

I really enjoyed The Violin Conspiracy, and probably had the level of intrigue in mind when starting this book out. It was good and included a lot of valuable themes. I just didn't love it as much as TVC.

That being said, the character of Josephine was amazing. She was developed and described so thoughtfully.

Such a good book, with such an infuriating but ultimately rewarding story!
