Interesting things going on thematically, but I can’t stand being in Kaaro’s head. Even if his characterization is intentional, the constant misogyny is miserable to read.

This review is for the audiobook.

They're was a lot abput this book which was novel to me, and which I appreciated, chiefly the Nigerian setting and perspective. Eleven of 32 chapters in, however, and it's failing to hold my interest. There are several interesting plot elements, any of which could have spurred the narrative along its way, but for me the story has yet to really take off. After not listening for over a week, I'm choosing not to finish.

The audiobook was very well performed.

Boring. Nothing happens. How are there two more books to this series?!

Enjoyed my first dip into Afro Futurism.  Wanted more about interacting with the aliens than hearing the mostly bad thoughts of the protagonist.

The book turned into background noise for me. I wasn’t really interested. And the story line didn’t capture my attention after a certain point. It’s sci-fi but it didn’t feel like a true futuristic sci-fi book.

Interesting premise but it took too long to go anywhere and there really was not much of a payoff when it was over.
