Spartacus
Was a slave that led the revolution against the ancient rome ( 73Bc) . The riches of rome made the slaves fight in arenas to brutally kill each other for their sheer enjoyment!!!

There's a series about this book you should totally watch it.

It was an easy passed book, because I love history, and I read it in one setting.

Will forever and always love what this books stands for (basic human decency) and Spartacus and Varinia are such a power couple ngl (they are the reason why I'm bi probs). Caius deserves better. Like I understand he's supposed to represent hedonism in Roman society but Fast already had like 1000 other characters that could do that. Poor boy did not deserve to get whipped in the end. Idk if its Fast being homophobic (yeah Caius is bi) or him hating hedonism, but all Caius did was have no particular ambitions, drink alot and fall in love with Crassus. Leave him alone plz.

I saw the Kubrick movie when I was in my teens and it left an impression on me, so I was quick to grab the book off the shelf when I came across it in a second hand store. Spartacus is a great story, but for me it unfortunately turned out to be not such a great read. Too much goes into hammering the despicable nature of the Romans from the outset and the whole question of the identity of Spartacus is laid on too much too early on. It is worth it if you can get over all the heavy handiness, but why not just watch the movie instead.

4,5.

This is a romantic, idealist novel.

It doesn't have the greatest rhythm, the greatest plot or the greatest writing. I would rate it 4.5, but given it's not possible I'd rather give it a 5 because I think it's currently underrated.
