Toby is a musician with ADHD who has a hard time focusing--so he decides to hire a dom to help him with that. Which is how Thorne first comes into his life. And when Toby finds himself pregnant, a whole new dimension creeps its way into both men's lives...

I don't even know what to say about this. It is completely ridiculous in concept and in execution. The way the relationship comes together is, frankly, unbelievable. And then the whole idea of Toby getting pregnant is, well, nonsensical. Had to read this for a challenge, or I would have stopped after the second chapter.

This was so silly and kinda so bad it is good so I ended up giving it 2 stars instead of 1.

We also time skip over the first few weeks of the relationship so we don't really see the romance build at all. There are also the surprise mpreg, marriage of convenience, and evil stalker fan elements.

I received this book in exchange for an honest review.

I always love a good Alpha/Omega story and throw in some kink and it makes it even better. Toby knows he needs someone to help keep himself on track, especially after his manager suggests it, and by coincidence sees the ad almost immediately following he jumps at it. Thorne is tired and hasn’t had anyone to actually be his boy in so long but even just seeing how Toby immediately acts for him he knows there is no way he can walk away.

Toby is so lost and hasn’t had anyone actually care about or for him in so long. Other than the one example of his partying, it doesn’t seem as if he is quite as bad as they make out, just a bit scatterbrained. It’s easy to see why he quickly takes to the Daddy lifestyle and how much Thorne quickly comes to mean to him. Thorne tries to keep an emotional distance from Toby but once he actually comes to him with his fears he can’t really do it anymore and they both get the chance to see what they really mean to each other.

Now, Toby’s parents, I had trouble with the interactions with them. They kept him at such a distance for so long and after they accuse Toby of horrible things they quickly change their tune and are suddenly involved with his life and seem to care. I don’t know, how things worked with them didn’t work for me and I have trouble with sudden changes in feelings/actions.

Well, I finished this.
First the positive:
1. It was fast. I read it in 2 sittings.
2. The relationship was healthy and the BDSM aspect was fairly healthy, except for that one scene in the beginning without aftercare.
3. There were a few funny jokes "the proverbial silver spoon - we're not actually born with it, it's gifted to us"... aaaand that's pretty much it.

It was... not very good. Mostly it reads like it needs another draft. The pacing is just way too fast, and the scenes are too... you don't really stay with any scene for any amount of time to make you feel anything. There's too much dialogue and not enough description, inner thoughts, setting, emotion. The book doesn't breathe. Except the Thorne scene in the beginning where it was ALL inner thoughts and I started to feel he was contradicting himself. The sexy scenes were also not that sexy, at least to me. Too fast, not enough space to develop the relationship.

The writing also felt a bit try-hard, just trying so hard to be "hip" and "with the youths", and it was really unnatural. (I don't like the word 'cringey' but well... that.)

And not to be gender essentialist, but I could tell this book was not written by men, let alone gay men. This is my problem with a lot of these books. They read like a straight woman's vague understanding of a gay man, rather than anything that actually resembles real-life gay people.

To be clear, this not the worst thing i have read. It's pretty addictive and very short and there were a few funny jokes but ... meh.

One last thing. really don't like the fact that toby getting back on his adhd meds is somehow seen as a bad thing??? The book promotes lifestyle changes over meds, which... no. Take your meds, kids!

So this was ok. It had a few cute moments and I kind of liked the characters but the story was meh and so much felt way too rushed and a lot of situations felt so wrong. Like e.g. the situation with Tobys parents, who switched from cold to loving parents in a heartbeat.
Also I was expecting much more steam and the steam we got wasn’t even that great.
