I liked how most of this revolved around him being the sub and her being the dom (the names have escaped me), but I didn't really enjoy how little sex they had in a book about sex? also, the neat and tidy ending felt unrealistic but like, it was a good read lol. nice and short too

I nearly gave this a four, but it needed a little more emotional heft — not necessarily angst; even the warm fuzzies would do.
BUT if you’re after a hott lil book featuring a femdom and a tall Russian who grew up in an orphanage and is now worth $52 billion, this will do the job nicely.
The chess scene in particular 🥵
One thing that wasn’t handled particularly well was the money aspect. Kate, our heroine, is tall (yay!) and fantastically brusque, but MAN is she dumb about money. She owes tens of thousands, but what does she do with her first payment from Mikhail? Drops four grand on coats and shoes. Credit card debt? I don’t know her. 24.9% APR? She means nothing to me.
And THEN, she harps on at him about the redistribution of wealth and the insanity of the existence of billionaires (NB I am right there with her) but then demands he buy her an enormous ruby and emerald necklace because… it’s all part of the game? I loved the little leftist and pro-choice moments, but you just can’t square a true passion for wealth redistribution with a love of making your man buy you a Patek Philippe.

I’m basically president of the Heather Guerre Fan Club at this point.
