I like this book 1 of 4 and I’m curious enough to continue on with the series. At times I wasn’t a huge fan but I think it’s more because I’m older and don’t like high school (academy) settings as much as I used to. I also really don’t like that the other guys are hooking up and she’s stumbling upon them hooking up with other women, but they are not together and they aren’t really friends yet. It just makes me feel meh, and there’s so much OW drama lol.

Going in I knew the series ends up a Why Choose but I didn’t know they were minors. Can’t get past the fact that they are 15.

Sometimes it feels like this series has reached cult status. Everyone in the Reverse Harem community is talking about it. At first it didn't really speak to me. I'm not into contemporary in general. I'm even less interested in bully romances. However, I finished the Bonds that Tie and when I was asking for more books breaking my heart and then gluing it together again this book came up. A lot. So, it was time to give the book a chance.

I was firstly quite surprised that the story was so fast paced. The Bonds that Tie was clearly a lot slower and it was especially that element, combined with the tension, that lured me in. However, once I got used to the pacing and the passing of time, the author had to fit an entire year into one book after all, I was starting to like it more and more. Mostly because the writing is still as captivating and still as gripping and still as addictive.

Another element I'm usually not fond of, mostly because I've been the victim of it way too often and way too long, is the bullying. In this case our heroine is quite capable of defending herself, though. Which doesn't mean she doesn't feel the shame and pain and sadness when bad things happen to her. It just means that she's capable of hiding those emotions for the world and coming up with great ways to get back at her bullies. It came with a delicious kind of tension!

I was also very pleasantly surprised with the second layer of the story. This story became, especially at the very end, more than a story about a girl with a scholarship trying to survive four years at a posh and expensive school with privileged and arrogant rich assholes. This is a story about a girl breaking free from a very dangerous world and maybe finding love and making friends along the way. The romance and the friendship might take time, but I'm looking forward to it already!

I’m typically willing to read poorly written books if there is a romantic pay off...and this one has none. Probably for the best since it’s a bunch of kids. I’m not sure why this is called a bully romance because there is literally zero romance. A lot of sexual assaults and weird fight club in a boarding school happening, but no romance.

Eclipse’s background isn’t explained at all...even if it is a series, I need some kind of details about who the main character is and how she got here.

The whole favor system that is in play with the diamonds didn’t make any sense. Her involvement and ability to call in daily favors from a vicious crime boss isn’t explained.

Just no. To the whole thing. It’s badly written, silly, and even the bad plot isn’t clearly explained.

Definitely a page-turner, but the plot was a bit lacking for me. I’m assuming this was mostly exposition for the series, but I doubt I’ll be continuing on.

I’m rating for how much fun I had reading this and the vibes, a five star read.
Edit: I just read for the second time around and it’s so good! Probably one of my favourite RH series. The bully romance is just on point! The only thing that would make it better is if it happened during college, not high school.
