Eerie and atmospheric, definitely a chilling read. Wasn’t a fan of the copy of Daisy Miller in my edition, not really my sort of style.

Wow, that was tough to read! I read about 30-40 pages and didn't understand a word of it. Maybe we will try this again next Halloween. On to the next read!

I read this in the contex of a literature class so my appreciation of this book is a lot more technical than some of my other reads of this year. I had fun analysing it and my favourite part was tracing all the rhetorical devices used to create this story. The ending felt a little bit anticlimactic, if I'm honest. I have to give some credit here and say that maybe it has to do with the time period in which it was written (we're talking 1800s here) so it probably felt that way because shocking endings and strong plot twists are more contemporary to us than to the writers and readers of the 19th century. I'm glad I got to read this classic! (Fingers crossed that I pass this class)
