I received a copy of this book in exchange for a review.

This book follows three women before, during, and after they are abducted and held captive in the house of a man in Queens. The three women, abducted as teens, are among the most at risk. They are treated in an awful manner before their abductions and their captor keeps them in the most deplorable circumstances. They are eventually liberated and we follow the aftermath of their ordeal.

This book is written in what I would call an experimental format. There are chapters that are very short and those that are longer. There are chapters that are written in a prosaic method and those that are much more poetic. The story is wonderful and I enjoyed it very much.

This novel is dark. These women are not treated well, as one might expect, but we learn about their abuse from the abused. It is very clear to us that they are abused and suffer repeated sexual assault. They are not fed, they are held captive, and they are forced to work for their captor. This book is not for the faint of heart.
