This story had me in a VICE GRIP. Kenan and Lotus were so passionate about each other that you could feel it in the room! I listened to this one and I HIGHLY suggest you do the same because the narrators were AMAZING!

Kenan is a pro basketball player who recently divorced his wife and is a single dad with shared custody of a teenaged daughter. Lotus is the right hand woman for a famous fashion designer and ends up playing a big role in his success while she holds that role.

When Kenan ends up modeling the fashion lines new watches because, *duh* forearm porn, there is so much chemistry between them that Lotus flees everytime they are in the same room together! He ends up rigging a game so that he gets to kiss Lotus and BOOOOOOIIIIIII!!!!!! That was the beginning of the end... but they went through a lot along the way, like why Lotus went on a sex hiatus, or Kenan's ex wife making a mess of their daughters social life with her victim mentality about the divorce. Things get hostile for a bit, though, I'm not going to lie to you.... it was TENSE.

Lotus ends up hopping on the crazy train with the spells of protection and intuition she spouts along the way, but Kenan just loves her and her outlook on matters of the heart and mind so completely and despite the crazy that Lotus is able to be herself and let her guard down in ways she never was never able to before. The time she spent with her Mimi learning how to harness her energy and direct it was so fascinating to me and called to me and my own spirit on a deep level! I loved this one! ♾️⭐️♾️!!!!

I just don't think this series was for me. I wasn't invested in the characters or their relationship. The ex wife was so infuriating and the daughter also acted way too young for her age!

I was not mentally prepared for this book but when I say it was exactly what I needed, I kid you not.
The ways this book navigates around childhood trauma and neglect really spoke to my inner child.
I related so much with Lotus and the things she endured. Kenan's patience with her and even the women from her support group made my heart grown. I cried, I laughed, and I learned so much.

I loved it! It was a slow start but god it was amazing! Lotus is amazing she is a fireball. And will not take no shit from no one. And she is so damn brave for everything she suffered. Kenan is nothing like his nickname apart from when he’s fighting to keep something he loves. I loved the protective father role he had and I’m so glad that he had a healthy relationship with his daughter, it was really important to have that I think. And considering I hate the age gap trope, I was surprisingly unbothered by this one. Highly suggest the hoops series as a whole!!
