Not enthralled at first - i was kind of a hater i must say. In the first 50 pages or so, some of the writing felt clumsy and cringy. But that was only temporary. Then it picked up and i was never bothered by the writing again. Idk if it was an editing problem (a few sentences that should have been cut maybe) or a me problem. Either way, i can’t stress enough that i was fully sold afterwards. Eager to keep reading. I was always sold on the European tour anyway, and the exes reuniting on accident is also a compelling trope. Those two things made me want to keep going even if i wasn’t totally happy with the writing at first. The travelling part was very well done. I loved the overall focus on the senses, on being sensual beings. Food, drink, art, sex. The descriptions feld vivid and joyous. It’s endearing how much the two characters love each other and it is deeply explored. I liked how the characters have a « larger than life » quality, many of them being incredibly charming and flirty. It’s definitely a horny and steamy read. Now that i think about it, it might be up there with perfect romances for me. Lots of romance tropes, queer characters, European travels, yearning, star-crossed-lovers and miscommunications… it fits a lot while being modern (gender, feminism, sexuality). Great fun, good summer read.

I actually loved the book. The narration was a little off but honestly, it didn't take enough away from the story to take away stars.
I've never read a book with a non binary main character and I'm glad I did.

This book is overindulgent and way too flowery and earnest, and I just loved it. Paired perfectly with the last summer beach day of the year for me.

holy shit. this book is absolutely stunning in every way. so well thought out, from the way every chapter was set up to the obvious studying of all the places this book took place in…UGH SO GOOD. not to mention the slowest of slow burns between theo and kit, ending with the will you marry me in french? the switch up in perspectives halfway thru to show how much they truly love each other??? ARE WE KIDDING??? god i just love casey and everything they write. truly such a talented author in every sense of the word
