Wonderfully written and a heartbreaking novel. Had me on the edge the entire time, I couldn’t put it down. It’s been a bit since I read it, and if I could read it again for the first time, I would. It does touch on some heavy themes, most of which are pretty self-explanatory, but it does a great job telling them. I recommend this book to anyone looking for a more darker story and are prepared for some angst and grieving with the characters. Though it’s a relatively short time span covered in the book, the writing makes it seem like it takes longer - but in a good way. Love it, and would read it again for the first time if I could!

There are so many things I could say about this book. This is one of the fastest books I read because my heart bled on every page.

This is an incredible telling of a raging war all over the world for past and future generations that we don’t even acknowledge.

This book takes an incredible and emotional look to school shootings, the trauma, bravery, and damage done for decades to come.
Following 4 different POVs all in some way or another connected to the shooter made this book even more impactful. The desperation, disbelief, and pure raw emotion that you can’t help but feel reverberated in each page shook me to my core.
I haven’t felt so grateful for my school years, and I pray everyone I know has as lucky as an experience as I did.

5 monumental stars.

It made me feel so many emotions, the writer is so good at conveying what a character is feeling. Only complaint is the mexican representation is a little stereotypical, not every Latin person randomly throws in spanish words, or randomly throws in a Spanish word in a thought they have. If they know English, and are in an English speaking country, most likely, we'll think and speak only English, only with family or friends that understand will we speak spanish. But that might just be me!

The writing to me feels very slow and the characters all seemed to blend into each other. They weren’t distinct and I wasn’t motivated to pick up the book. I just looked forward to finishing it. However, I do feel like this book does shed light towards the human condition and school shootings. Emotionally, it didn’t connect with me but overall a good story to share with students about our struggle and the history we have with school shootings.

Another one I read in one sitting. This book was devastating. Fast-paced and gripping, with amazing characters it was an emotional rollercoaster. My heart was pounding, I was so desperate for these characters to survive. For me, it was a fast read, although I did spend quite a while crying after finishing... so you can factor that in if you want to!
With multiple POV's we experience each characters hopes, dreams, fears and regrets as they face the boy with the gun.
I have a book hangover from reading this, after crying I just felt empty. I would highly recommend this to anyone who wants to cry.
Solid 3.5 stars.
