I liked the setting and the characters and the idea of the plot but there was just something off about it. Like it should have been faster paced since so much was at stake but it was more like a long, meandering journey.
Literally the BEST book I've ever read, I couldn't put it down!! The worldbuilding was SO good and interesting and I loved the characters and SO MUCH adventure and magic and travelling and I found myself wanting to reread the book even before I finished it, which is like the first time that happened :D The pacing was great, the entire plot so cool and I loved Hal and Asra so much! I've literally no idea what else to say other than that I loved the book a lot :D
I can't wait to reread the book someday :D

4.5 stars
A great prequel to Of Fire and Stars that takes place in the same universe, but where the main character has a different kind of magic than Dena.
