I will say I'd put this on a hold list months ago and didn't check the summary when I finally picked it up, so the first MURDER knocked me out. And I found that side of it disturbing and upsetting in a good-book way! Not to sound like a hack reviewer, but I did find this unputdownable, and only put it down when the creeping/chasing-behind backstory got me stressed. And that's why I do wish she'd eased up on the killer POV bits. I skimmed those bits heavily.

On the other hand – this was just a great book. Nora Roberts for sure has a bag of settings, character archetypes, and romances, and I could recognise them all here – especially her women. But she's Nora Roberts because she takes those bones and builds compelling stories, somehow forty fucking years into her career. I loved Morgan and every one of her setbacks and victories felt personal to me. The romance was lovely, if slight, and I really appreciate that her men have settled into the 21st century even while maintaining their gruffness. Roberts rocks.

I liked the basic plot of the book and overall it was an entertaining read. My only complaints would be the characters were too perfect and predictable. It was very easy to guess what was going to happen. Also, I wanted a little more of a fight at the end for the amount of build up there was throughout the whole book.

I liked this one. I've read a number of Nora Roberts' romance and fantasy romance series, but this is the first thriller of hers I've read. I'd say this one reads much more like a romance with a few thriller elements than a true thriller, but I enjoyed it anyway. The thriller wasn't boring, but it didn't hold my attention - there wasn't anything unique about it really. I liked the romance story of a woman finding a new way forward after an incredible tragedy that she blames herself for.

I always find that Roberts' characters all sound the same, and that holds true here as well. I still ended up liking the characters - both the FMC & MMC as well as the grandma, who was my favorite.

A huge thank you to the author and the publisher for providing an e-ARC via Netgalley. This does not affect my opinion regarding the book.

If you like Nora Roberts writing, it's a 5 star book from her. If you are expecting something more than a Nora Roberts book, you will be disappointed.

It’s a good little read. I wouldn’t necessarily recommend it, but it’s a good read

For the record I did enjoy this book but it’s a 3 star book.
A couple of years ago I went on a big Nora Roberts binge and read a solid number of her books and I’ve been keeping up with her new releases for the most part and I just feel like they are getting really repetitive?
It feels very fill in the template— hard working independent fmc meets pushy mmc while on the run from bad guy, a dog always ends up coming into the picture and family is a huge value in every story. And spoiler alert the bad guy always stalks into town at the end and gets caught.

Sometimes it’s nice to be able to depend on the ending of a book but after reading so many books of NR now I think I’m a bit bored.
