The Tale of Two Cities was such a bad book.

Not a great start to 2025.

Though it tested my patience in the beginning, in the end, it turned out that my patience was well rewarded. A tale of two cities was an amazing book and my heart went out to the characters who were very well portrayed. It had all the essential elements, the suspense, an interwoven plot, the romance and the perfect dark character that made the book an interesting and wonderful read.It gave an insight into the lives in England and France in the eighteenth century and the french revolution or La Guillotine. All in all, an amazing and wonderful read.

Two years ago, I picked this book up but immediately put it down after the first chapter. I was a 14-year-old who couldn't care less about 18th-century London and the French Revolution. Also, Dickens' wordiness gave me a headache right away. However, now, at 16 (yes, not much older, I know) I decided to give it another try. The way this book's first chapter immediately intrigued me shows how much I've progressed over the course of two years. Do I care about the French Revolution? YES. Do I like Charles Dickens' verbose and flowery language? YES. This book is brilliant in every possible way. All the mysteries unfold perfectly. This book depicts the ugly side of human nature and the consequences of oppression, so it's really sad, of course, but I'll probably reread it again (and be sad all over again). I think it'll be one of my all-time favorites.

I had to read this twice one year for two classes in high school. I seriously hated my life at that point because I didn't enjoy this book at all, just like most books we are forced to read for a class. But looking back, I realize that it really was an amazing story and written in such a beautiful way. Not one of my favorite classics by far, but I now have an appreciation for it and mayyyybe I would go back to read it some day. Maybe.

I loved this book once I got into it. The ending is not at all what I expected but was very noble.

Thérèse Defarge might be utterly psychotic, but she’s also a stone cold badass
