We're back on a library adventure, this one heavily focused on dragon politics. A liberian is rumored to have betrayed the foundational neutrality which leads Irene on a new dangerous investigation. Met expectations!

So far this one has been my favorite of the series. I thoroughly enjoyed the 1920's speakeasy age of America. The narrator did a wonderful job with all the accents and the action just kept on coming. I am starting to see some growth in Irene and she has made a name for herself throughout the library and across many worlds. Whether that is a good or bad thing is yet to be seen. I hope many of the themes from this book will carry over to the next.

4.5 stars. Yet another excellent addition to an imaginative world! (Worlds, actually, I suppose.) The ending was very clever and the final pages so so sweet! Can’t wait to read the next one!

Not the most elegant, neither the most boring.
If the previous books had rogue librarians and fiendish faes, this one had the order loving dragons make plots that would put any fae to shame. And where does our rebel librarian find herself? Right in the thick of it.
For those who are new to the series, Irene is a Librarian in the multiverse. The Library is in the multiverse and is a neutral. The various words are either ruled by chaos loving Faes or order loving Dragons. And the librarians ferry books from one world to another and occasionally act as James Bond if needed.
In this particular one, Irene investigates a plot where the Library's neutrality could be compromised. Little did she realise, she would be its main instigator.

Read this series. There are Fae, dragons, bad-ass Librarians, magicians, high-chaos world, high-logic worlds, high-magic worlds, and just really creative storylines. This writer is consistantly smart, intriguing, and original. Also, as someone who is a Librarian (yeah, I capitalized it), the woven thread of neutrality and how it plays out in this version of the Library is fascinating and really fun.
Read please. If you really hate it, you can shout at me, but I just don't think you will.

Meh. If you're into this kind of thing, you'll be into this. If not, you won't.
