Not one I had heard of before but like almost every King novel it was an awesome story. And despite not having a real "ending" it was totally satisfying.

Found myself struggling with this early on, but by the end I came around on it almost entirely.

It took me awhile, but I eventually bought in emotionally and once I did I flew through the end. Loved the way King frames this with Sandy and the Troop D telling Ned all about the Buick and his father. It feels much slower than most of my favorite King novels, but it tackles concepts of grief, loss, and the ways we tell stories to keep our loved ones close and memories alive, in interesting and meaningful ways. Appreciated that it doesn’t end in a neat and tidy bow, and King never tries to over explain or  build the Buick 8 into something it isn’t. What we don’t know makes it even creepier than if we did know all the ins and outs and every what, how, why.

Another fairly typical Stephen King tale of horror interweaved with the human relationships and connections that arise around that horror.

Not my favorite King story, but certainly not the worst. It does a good job creating suspense and that sense of unnaturalness and horror.

There’s no doubt that King is a great storyteller. He knows how to hook you. He’s great a building up a story but he’s not always the best with endings. From a Buick 8 bounces between the past and the present. Normally I struggle with this but that wasn’t the case with this book. The transition between the past and present was seamless. As is the case with a lot of Kings books there were a lot of characters, and I struggled with keeping everyone straight throughout the whole book. He had me invested from the very beginning. I like the characters needed to know more about the car and how things were going to play out. I had an idea of how this was going to end, and I was right and unfortunately, I didn’t like the way it ended. It makes sense and I understand why it ended the way it did but I’m the type of reader who needs answers. I can’t stand being left with so many questions when it comes to the books I read. I can see this working for so many people so please don’t let me deter you from reading it if you’ve been interested in picking it up.
