At first I felt like “here we go again” as she was telling things that WE already know, things WE deal with every single day. Then I realized this book was more meant for others and lends US more concise wording when we take the time to explain our lives. It was well written and made me feel seen.

An overview of the Black experience. Drenched in research and personal storytelling. Friends, commit to anti-racism literature and practices.

Black Fatigue: How Racism Erodes the Mind, Body, and Spirit by Mary-Frances Winters has helped me sort through my emotions and give myself grace during this transition period. Part educational tool, part self-help guide, Black Fatigue is one of the most topical antiracist reads for this moment with Winters’ pointed analysis of COVID-19 and the 2020 Black Lives Matter protests.
Mary-Frances Winters’ Black Fatigue is a life-altering work. It belongs on every reading list, and I feel lucky to be among its first readers. Buy it, read it, share it.

This book is really written for a non-black audience and introduces a lot of important terms for those who are on their anti-racist journey (aka if you're really clueless and in corporate probably a good read).

Very informative and well written. My only gripe is the number of times the author used the word “fatigue” at the end of paragraphs. It was too much and made the book feel a bit cheesy. The point about Black fatigue was made without it being reiterated by using the word every couple of paragraphs.
