Hoping to share this as a book study at the schools I work at to increase knowledge and acceptance for trans and non binary youth.
As someone who is non-binary, the facts and the terminology I knew already. But this book is a WONDERFUL resource for allies and for people exploring their own gender. Schuyler's personal anecdotes about his life were heartfelt and wonderful to read, some reassured me, some were like "yup that's happened to me", and some where like wow never thought of things like that. Overall, this was a wonderful book - as I knew it would be. Schuyler is an incredible trans advocate.

I really enjoyed it as someone navigating their queerness! Definitely a must read for any ally.
This book is fantastic! Bailar gives us both a highly personal look into his life as a trans collegiate athlete as well as a detailed introduction to how to be a good ally to the trans community. He covers topics ranging from vocabulary, do’s and don’ts of communication with and about trans people, information on what gender affirming care really means, issues that impact trans youth, the intersectionality of race and queerness, and a compelling argument on why concerns about trans athletes are unfounded. My only critiques are over-referencing the Miriam Webster dictionary and occasional repetitiveness. It’s very much a beginner’s guide so if you are a trans person or have a lot of experience in this realm it may be overly simplistic. But as a beginners’s guide it was a great read and I’d highly recommend
