This is a very informative beginning book for anyone who wants to be an ally or who wants to better understand gender identity and transgender topics. It is part memoir, part handbook and very approachable. It is well informed and uses both research and personal experience.

This book is and will be an excellent resource. Schuyler Bailar has the advantage of multiple perspectives because he is a trans man, but for first 18 years of his life he was viewed as and raised as a girl and he is also first generation Korean American. His advice to parents and kids alike is insightful. I highly recommend this book to parents of children who may be questioning their own sexuality/gender or to allies who want to gain useful insight, but need more guidance and then of course for other trans people who need Schuyler‘s inspiring advice and stories.
