While I do not feel equipped with rating this book because of how personal it is when examining the author’s, Schuyler Bailar’s life experiences/feelings, I can only attempt to sum up my admiration for this book’s existence by reiterating a quote from it. “Love can transcend all barriers if we let it.” 💕

Schuyler Bailar did an excellent job crafting an informative book on trans experiences using a mix of anecdotes and research. I only have a few critiques regarding this book. As a nonbinary person, however, I did feel that this book lacked nonbinary-specific perspectives. I also feel that the book centered a cisgender audience, when it could have spoken to trans reader's experiences in more depth. I still believe that this book is extremely important, especially for cis allies to read and learn about how to become a better ally to trans people. Thank you Schuyler for writing this and for all that you do online to support the trans community!

Schuyler is a wonderful author, storyteller, and narrator. I learned so much and felt genuinely touched by his story.

I learned a whole bunch! The section on trans athletes was especially informative for me. Schuyler Bailar did a great job of mixing memoir elements with the educational topics so it didn’t feel to much like reading a textbook.
