Much more of gender 101 text than a memoir. Strongest parts were familial memoir chapters, weakest were the example situations explaining concepts, which seemed a bit forced at times. The issue of trans people in sports chapters disappointed me a bit- not that I disagree with him but I think more evidence based discussion was warranted, especially wrt the policing of black bodies

A textbook-y but generally positive & useful crash course on how to be a better ally to trans people :-)

Great book if you’re still asking questions like “what does cis mean?” I highly recommend to anybody at that point. I’d love to have had it as a resource 15 years ago.

Hello! I believe every cisgender person should read this book, especially if you have someone close to you that is trans. We need more allyship in times like these.

The vulnerability and generous story telling was powerful. Would recommend for anyone looking for a book that shares some of th lived experience of being trans while also educating and being uncompromising in overall messages.

This book is… amazing. I am an a11y and do my very best to learn, unlearn, relearn, and respect every human in this world. This book gave me the insight, information, vocabulary, and knowledge I didn’t know I was missing.
The book is helpful, informative, emotional, and almost acts as a how-to for supporting those in the LGBTQ2S community, but with a specific focus on trans folks.

This is a must read!
