Brideshead Revisited is a sophisticated novel, perhaps the most among every novel I’ve read. It is full of beautiful nostalgia, it’s words, characters, and plot feels like a memory.
Here we follow Captain Charles Ryder who reflects on his past, particularly Brideshead and his “friend” Sebastian Flyte.
It is a novel that can perfectly be described as fine wine. The older one gets the better this novel gets.

I just don't think this sort of bland drama is my thing. I just kept waiting for something to happen and it never did. The over use of religion and alcoholism did nothing to endear me to this book.

At times I was completely lost in the jargon of the 1900s, but quite a lovely book nonetheless. Look at that, Charles Ryder, isn't that poignant epilogue the result of your own actions?
