Did NOT like this one at all! Characters obnoxious and remote. Droned on and on. I know it's considered really good, so I take all the blame if I missed something.

It is the Catholic I-Ching. It is completely English in every sense, completely Roman Catholic in the 11th century concepts of the first half of the 20th century and utterly Anglo-Catholic, a bread of cat more Catholic than the Pope, utterly bred in the ancient traditions. All this collides with the Beautiful Young Things, ghastly cocktails that mask bad alcohol, the shallow emptiness of the lost years entre les guerres and the dawn of WWII. This is my second read. I listened to Jeremy Irons read the unabridged. I recommend it as the story becomes a living multi-faceted jewel to turn in every direction. Waugh leaves us with not stone unturned.
