Nerdy, dripping with sarcasm, and very funny. The audiobook even has an outtakes from some of the best lines because the narrator was cracking up and had to stop laughing and re-record. If you liked “We Are Legion/We are Bob” you will love this.

Superheroes are currently big business in the world of ingested media….. but what if they were s**t? I don’t mean bad people(The Boys has that covered), just really frigging bad at it.
And here we have the sidekicks initiative, drafted mostly against their will to save the world.
So this is lighthearted. It’s funny, like laugh out loud funny, but also carries a pretty good story throughout that didn’t just feel stupid(though it was!). There was enough depth here to know that you’re reading a comedy writer than makes a good story funny, as opposed to making funny carry the story.
Seriously this was a great read with excellent humour and excellent characters. Just read it. I don’t want to spoil anything but Randy is just the best! Totally perfect as a character!

Cityopolis citizens are continuously saves by superheros and have grown so used to it that they don't even consider the perils of being close to supervillains. But this changes dramatically when all superheros are gone, and cityopolis needs their sidekicks to jump into action. Trouble is, the sidekicks are not sure it they are more capable of saving or totally destroying the city.
What a funny book! The narrator did an excellent job and we should always have access to the outtakes at the end.. loved it! Audible, please do more of this.

When a book is subtitled "A Comedy Superhero Adventure", if it's humor doesn't work for you, there are problems. Nothing in this book was funny to me. Every "joke" in it annoyed me because it was the opposite of funny. The non-humor parts of the story worked for me no better than the jokes. DNF

Great comic-book comedy
I love super-hero comedy. As a kid I picked up all the Assassin Bug, Spider Han, and What The…!? comics I could find. The real super-hero comics not so much.
This is a lot like those comics, but it also has characters you can sympathize with. This is more than just farce or satire; there are real characters in here between the jokes.

It took me a while to get into the style of this story. I read the author’s notes at the end; like him I grew up hating reading with one exception, Superhero comics. Like him, a special reading teaching leverage comics into a huge appreciation for reading in general.
I kept expecting the Sidekicks to step up and be awesome, the comedic dialog and activities are great fun, even when things turn more toward the expected conclusion there the humor remains constant. It is definitely not what you expect but it will definitely leave you chuckling in your seat.

Okay. It got better. Slow start but in the end it wasn't a bad book.
Nice characters and Randy is the perfect support. Too annoying to carry a story, but absolutely wonderful in a supporting role (just don't tell him that).
Also, notes for the audio book - there are outtakes at the end. Nice to know the narrator was having a good time!
