Wash Day Diaries offers a glimpse into the main characters lives as they navigate their day. It was a quick, light read that celebrated their joy and connections to each other.

There was a character who mentioned mental health struggles, and their friend basically said “just take this crystal, it will help.” They didn’t talk about it again on page after that, which felt was unsatisfactory.

I just had my wash day this morning so it felt fitting to read , seeing an illustration of the step by step process is just as long as going through it lmao. Very sweet and short , only reason this isn't a 5☆ for me is because nobody called out Cookie for that crystal mess 🙄 trying to dissuade someone from taking the medication they need and offering a CRYSTAL in exchange woulda had me heated .

This book was okay. I may not have been the intended target audience, but it was entertaining.

I loved this. Admittedly, I haven't read many (any?) slice of life from this voice, so it feels refreshing, like an intimate peek into unique experiences.

A great read, sometimes fun, sometimes emotional, and constantly celebrating Black women, their hair, and their friendships with each other. The part with Cookie and her grandma made me cry in the best way.

This was cute. I liked the art style.
Only thing that I felt was a weird take was
when Cookie dismissed the idea of taking anti depressants and suggested crystals instead… it was framed in the story as Cookie not understanding the situation and being unhelpful, but then it just kinda ends there. Cookie does help out in the end, but I just found that one chapter a bit weird the way it was never really resolved. Would’ve preferred if we got to see her learn why that wasn’t a helpful response.

This was awesome, tho the lack of addressing how Cookie was anti-medication was jarring. it's implied Davene gets on them anyways but it's strange she doesn't have a candid convo with her friends about it.
