the amount of humor and out-there lingo felt like it was sacrificed in order to move plots forward, which made the novel feel a tiny bit more stale than the first installment of the series. the falling action and resolution wrapped up far quicker in lair of dreams than it did in the diviners, which felt weird? bray takes so much time to set up such a complex plot, complex character dynamics, and rich supernatural goingson that a single chapter that glosses over everyone's book 2 ending is out of place and feels disjointed.
once again, i appreciate bray's attention to detail and the inclusion of politics without beating us over the head with "it's wrong" or "it's right."
i'll definitely be continuing the series, but i need a short break from it so that i don't get burned out on evie o'neill's antics.

I'm afraid for our characters in what is to come, to be honest. I fell so hard for Sam Lloyd in this book and I was quite certain that he wasn't going to make it to the end, because reading books has taught me to just expect the worst. So many loose ends were tied up, but now there are so many NEW ones. I loved every moment of Lair of Dreams, but I'm a little worried that it's going to give me a book hangover, I liked it that much. I definitely recommend this book, and the whole Diviner series to date!
Moderate: Chronic illness and Xenophobia
Minor: Drug use, Homophobia, Racism, Religious bigotry, and Toxic relationship
