I felt that this novel was longer than it needed to be. The writing was repetitive and the back and forth of Kate and Paul trying to decide what to do was monotonous. The romance was decent, but the characters constant inner turmoil eclipsed the positive emotions they were feeling. I enjoy when authors include epilogues that show where the characters are headed or end up in their relationships, but this epilogue took me out of the story. The tone changed and it was mostly telling, not showing, what happened between Kate and Paul after they finally decided to be together. As a caution, there was some language and a couple of intimate scenes, though most of the explicit content was implied.

Winter Interlude was a really lighthearted and fun read that really captured that little bit of winter magic. It doesn't have much depth, but was fluffy and comforting and way more enjoyable than I expected.

I gave up on this book due to a vastly differing worldview that made it almost painful to read. The main storyline is: heroine is upset because her little sister is getting married before she is, so she pushes her boyfriend of seven years to commit, and when he doesn't seem willing, tries out his brother instead. Maybe a couple of hundred years ago, marriage was so important for the survival of a woman that it was worth messing up relationships for, but I don't really think it is any more.

The writing is fine, though, if you can overlook the obsession with getting married at all costs.
