3.5 stars. I liked the mysteries in this more than the prequels. Nick is also slowly growing on me.

There is a lot of sex, bordering on too much, in my opinion... I'm hoping that it's going to serve some purpose other than as just smut as the series progresses.

3 stars for the first story. 3.5 stars for the second. 4 stars for the third.

I really liked the third story. Nick is growing in me. And while there is still too much sex for my tastes, Nick's relationship seems to be moving in a direction I'm liking.

I have to say that I have been having a slow build up of anxiety over the level of sex since a) safe sex doesn't even seem to be thing and b) I know its just a matter of time before somone (or multiple someones) gets HIV.

This is like the Adrien English mysteries w/out the fucking bullshit and the drama. I liked that the character is unattached and just has sex with everything that walks, or crawls, or just sits down. LOL.

The mysteries are short - the first book was enjoyable, I'll prob. continue.

The only thing that bothered me, of course, was all the unsafe sex but it's the 80s and that was understandable. And I loved Chicago so much and coming from a city that doesn't have a thriving gay life, it's awesome to know about other cities that did/still do.

(I've only read the first three shorts in book one and part of book two, I like that all the stories are somehow connected, even if it's just some random coincidence).

I'll have to agree w/ some other reviewers. The series is addictive. I didn't want to like it but I ended up loving it. The lack of fidelity is ridiculous and what they're hinting on -- with the unsafe sex amongst men in the 80s -- you can feel the storm creeping in but yeah... I really really really enjoy Nick Nowak -- just like the rest of Chicago.

TMI:

him fucking that cop in the alley was by far the hottest thing EVER. omg.

I look forward to BOYSTOWN #3.

I love that this series is set in CHICAGO. Chicago is my fav. city in the USA and I just love the gay culture there so yeah... BIG FAN.

The stories are interesting, the mystery is thrilling and he's just such a damn smart character with the way he figures it all out. I just really enjoyed it.

Nick is just such a slut. And hooks up with the worst possible people. And it's not even like he's just so overcome with attraction to them, it honestly seems like he could take it or leave it most of the time. It's oddly dispassionate.
