The history of racism (categorized into segregationists and assimilationists) and anti-racism in the US through the lens of politics, philosophy, and art/media.
This adaptation of Kendi's book is amazingly accessible to young adults. Reynolds balances the need to approach this topic seriously with a touch of well-placed humor. This is highly recommended for every high schooler to read to understand a full history of the US.

This book is written for teens and gives a broad view of America’s long history of racism. The voice the book is written in is unique and relatable, which helps to digest a lot of things that are really hard to read and learn about. But it’s so important to talk about racism especially when it’s challenging and uncomfortable because this is only the start to understanding and acting to dismantle systemic racism.

Don’t freak out. Just read it. Be open to it. Read it again. Read it with your children. Think on it. Really CONSIDER it: racism, antiracism, and YOU.
