5+++++ 'Chunks & Donkey' Stars

The Thief is original, with nail biting, on the edge of seat, fast paced and action-packed goodness that you won't want to put it down. All in all, it is brilliant. I see Kate McCarthy becoming one of my favorite authors if any of her other books are like this one.

The Characters.

Arcadia 'Ace' Jones is one of the best in the business. She comes from a heritage of car fanatics and thieves. After so many years living the high and the adrenaline and especially what happened to her brother she wants out. Getting out isn't that easy though.

I love Ace, I have a major girl crush on her and seriously she is one of the best heroines I have ever got to meet. She is strong, sassy, does what's right. Has her head screwed on yet has kept her soft heart, her loyalty is one of kind and she loves unconditionally.

Kelly Daniels is a Sentinel and has been since the age of 15. He loves his cars, he loves to tinker, and he loves his club. He would lay down his life for those who are in his inner circle.

I love Kelly just as much as I love Ace. He is one strong alpha with such an high level of overprotectiveness that normally I would say it is too much but here? Nope, not at all. He is loyal and a bit of a softie. I love him flaws and all.

The characters are three dimensional and have a depth to them that I haven't experienced in a long time. They work together. They are similar but not quite. Ace has a light that shines that keeps Kelly's demons at bay. Kelly is Ace's rock.
Let’s turn to the secondary characters. Ellington Echo Reid is a prodigy with bubble gum hair. Fingers that work magic as a hacker security specialist. She is Ace’s partner in crime and yes had to bend the sistas code, but it was for Ace’s own good. Nothing too bad.

The Fox brothers oh lord I need them to have books like now. I know Luke is getting a book with Murphy/Hayden. Please hurry up.

These characters add so much more depth to the book.

The Chemistry.

From the first time that they met they had chemistry on all levels. Emotionally they were on the same wavelength and sexually no need to even mention that. They were scorching. I love how their interactions started off and although they were drawn to one another they both knew that what was between them is special. Even though there were some pesky reasons standing between them.
Their interactions flowed well be it that they were having a lark, or it went over to something serious. Or when it was time to get down and dirty.

The Writing & Plot.

The beginning of the book absolutely gutted me. The author doesn't hold back she gets down to the nitty gritty and I was shocked, sad and amazed by the prologue. Ms. McCarthy's writing is top notch. She knows how to lay the foundation for an epic story. I personally think that I got an epic story.

From Ace boosting cars to Kelly helping her. The background and in-depth story that happened between Kelly and Casey, his estranged brother where Kelly couldn’t quite let that grudge go. Or with Ace and Mason and the differences that they had. But family is family and you go through thick or thin. Boosting 12 cars in 12 weeks is no easy feat especially when Kelly gets involved. Ace’s nine lives are about to end. There is only so much luck you can have.

I was captivated with the story, it’s riveting. You just didn't know what was going to happen next. Which for me personally is always refreshing.

The Verdict.

I am so glad that I took a chance with this author. It is everything I want in a book. I just need to back track and read the series as they are somewhat interconnected.

Racer Jones’s pray this nearly made me pee my pants

“As I lay rubber down the street, I pray for traction I can keep, but I spin and begin to slide, please dear God protect my ride.”

And last but not least I want the paperback.

P.S. Eve I think this is one for you *lol*

4.5 "Chunks and Donkey" Stars!!!

The Thief was the perfect mix of adrenaline, suspense, steam with your added swoon. This was my first Kate McCarthy book and it most definitely won't be my last. The Thief took me on the most spectacular ride. I loved everything about this book and this story and especially the characters. And as soon as I finished the book all I wanted to do was read it all over again.

Arcadia "Ace" Jones is a car thief. She's been doing it ever since its been passed down to her. A family business, you can say. Stealing cars is a drug Ace can't get enough of. The thrill she gets and the high that goes through her is everything she craves. But even though she loves it, it's time to move on. And when she tries to retire, it's doesn't go according to plan.

Kelly Daniels' life hasn't been easy. Apart from that, his relationship with his brother isn't what it used to be. He lost a lot, and because of that loss it has made Kelly the man he now is. That includes being part of a MC, a Sentinel. It's hardened Kelly, but at the same time he gained brothers, a bond for life. There's a certain girl that has caught Kelly's eye. He can't get her out of his head. And when he ends up following her, he's surprised when he sees her in the middle of stealing a car. He's intrigued and without even knowing he's going to be wrapped up in Ace in more ways than one.

Ace and Kelly's chemistry was off-the-charts! With Ace's spunk added with Kelly's gruffness, these two were perfect for each other. And their banter had me laughing more times than not. I freaking loved these two. Ugh, and when Kelly's tender side came out I swooned so hard. Ace and Kelly were made for each other, the car thief and the sentinel were a match made in car heaven.

I was sad to see this book end. As soon as I finished I missed these characters and secondary characters. And low and behold that little nugget when I reached the end, and I read that there was going to be another book!!!! *happy dance* And it's about Fox and.... well I'm not going to say who cause then that'll ruin the surprise. But YESSSSSSS, so freaking ecstatic. I CAN'T WAIT!!!! NEED! WANT! NOW!

ARC received for an honest review

The Thief is a stand alone, spin off of Ms McCarthy's Give Me series, and whilst it can be read without reading the series, I would at least read Give Me Grace as it Kelly's brother Casey's story and it does intertwine.

I freaking adore Ace. She is smart and full of sass and snark. Trying to get out of the "family business" is not working so well for her at the moment, and I love how she tries to do it all on her own.

Then Kelly Daniels enters her life, and he is all she never expected - and definitely not who she ever wanted.

I loved that even though they have their differences, both Ace and Kelly act (mostly) like adults and talk stuff out - none of this not talking and walking away BS here!

They also have some great back up when the poo hits the fan. I really, really want Echo as my best friend. Ace will share her, right?

I am a big fan of classic/muscle cars, so I may have drooled over some of the cars in The Thief. Oh, and maybe a little bit of Kelly too hehe.

It is hard to write this review without giving anything away, however I was engrossed in this story from the prologue right until the end.

Great characters, flowing story. Now I am impatiently waiting for the next book - we meet the characters for that one in The Thief.

Please don't keep me waiting too long Ms McCarthy.
