My Amazon review:If there is another book with as much fun and adventure in it involving an orphan hypnotist, I haven't found it! Molly Moon is an adorable character who you can't help but love. Her hard times at the orphanage seem nearly over when she finds a book on hypnotism at the local library and makes her way across the pond to NYC where she becomes, of all things, a Broadway baby and a bank bandit - all in the same month. Not to be missed by any reader with an affinity for Lemony Snicket or Harry Potter. You won't be able to wait for the sequel. Truly fun stuff with a cherry on the top.

Whoops forgot to update my re-read of this series earlier this year.
Anyway- favorite series of all time, enough said tbh.

I couldn’t think of anything to read that I own but then I remembered this preteen classic. Reading Molly Moon feels like coming home! (And it’s SO frustrating how hard it is to log books you’ve read more than once and I wish Goodreads would fix that. Honestly like a counter where you add the number of reads? Should not be too hard.)

I’m faced with the same issue as with Harry Potters when reading them as an adult: these kids are WAY TOO YOUNG for adventures like this. And the timeline in this sucks as well (often in Potters too), there is absolutely no way this could have happened in three weeks. Anyway apart from these the plot works well, the characters are well written and it’s exciting so you don’t want to put it down. You can tell it’s written for kids (rather than YA, if Molly was 17 this could almost be an YA novel) as there are all these ”Nockman-turns-nice-in-a-minute” things. But anyway I liked it, as I remembered I would.

Definitely a comfort read for me, and I love following Molly Moon, Petunia, and Rocky on their adventures. Reading this always brings me so much joy!

Also… I heard it’s a movie now? WHAAAAT?!
adventurous funny fast-paced

It's a decent book and I'll probably read more. However, it is yet another in the line of children's books involving orphans and nothing but horrible adults (ok, there is one decent grown-up). Plus I'm supposed to believe she just happened to be carrying around a can of dog food and a bottle of water for days? (Yes, most 8-year-olds wouldn't find this odd. I did.)

I really cannot express how much I love this book.
I read it for the first time when I was ten and then I'd read it every time I sort of forgot most of it because of how good it was. And the funniest thing happened recently, I realized there are another 5 books after this one! I'm 22 and I so badly want to read them but I'm afraid I won't enjoy them as much.

***1/2

I haven't read this since i was like 9 but i do remember it being one of my favourite books so 5 stars.
