This book had me smiling so much! The romance was sweet with a little bit of spice. I really liked both the FMC and MMC. Simple sweet hockey contemporary romance!

it was a quick fluffy read for sure! my qualms with it are just technical things; i thought the characters had a tendency to speak in a way that didn’t match how they had been previously/like college students (and more like how i imagine the author speaks) and the b-plot was random and never really resolved. i could also tell the author wasn’t as familiar with college boys and streaming culture  because i know there’s no way a boy on the internet would give himself a username that could be shortened to “mid”. truly a death sentence in this day and age.

but overall, i had fun as long as i didn’t think about it too hard!

The writing and editing could use some work. Unfortunately this made the reading process less than smooth and at times confusing. I some parts of the book came across as verbal dialogue as oppose to written.
The story had some interesting aspects, this why I decided to read the whole book. Sadly there were so many missed opportunities. It could have been interesting delving a bit more into how the hero grappled with regaining his memory and discovering a new sense of self. The author skirted around the topic but didn’t dig in too deep. Since the hero did not share much of himself with anyone and he tended to dismiss much of what he was thinking or feeling, it made it difficult to like or connect with the character.
The way the story was written left me thinking that although I read about Finn and Naomi, I didn’t feel like I got to really know either of them.

This was such a cute fun read. Definitely was what i was looking for.

If you’re in the mood for a short, sweet, romance with a “grumpy” MMC then this could do it for you.

It was also nice to have the author not shy away from blackness or whiteness or any race. She just embraced it and it made for a nice relaxing read.

It makes me very happy to be reading cute hockey romance books with a main black character!! More of this please!!! Finn and Naomi were the perfect amount of grumpy x sunshine, and I really liked how Naomi’s struggle with being the happiest person in appearance and her inner turmoil was handled. I think the wood cutting scene was a good turning point for her character in being more healthy and proactive about her emotions. Finn is so FIIINE, and I’m obsessed with how obsessed he is with Naomi ( in a healthy way! ) once you get past his gruff exterior, he’s like a warm gooey marshmallow. I think the only critiques I had was the Midquest hidden identity trope could’ve maybe used a bit more fine tuning? Logically it just didn’t feel like it fit to be going on for as long as it did and Naomi not having one inkling it was him..the clues were all right there. I also thought the whole mini, and I mean mini subplot about the hockey coaches being gamblers or whatever wasn’t honestly needed. It just felt like something thrown in to give more interest. Over all, I really enjoyed this book!
