This book was cute! Definitely an interesting premise (dude gets amnesia and never meets his online sweetheart, then they cross paths and blah blah blah), but the amnesia part was insane. First of all, sorry to that man for his injury. I almost wish we focused more on his development coming back from that than his relationship.

It was okay. I wouldn’t say things we rushed, but the sex caught me off guard, and then the ending was like this the max? WHO would end a book like this and I also was just like so it’s fuck this
gambling ring
or something and this house that’s on its last leg of life like there’s a bit much to unpack here.

Unfortunately I didn’t enjoy this overall. I’m just not a big fan of the amnesia trope although I will say that almost became the part I did like best which I think says a lot 🥴 Specifically Finn’s (sp? I did audio) journey with his memory loss and his recovery, I liked the message that he could be whoever he wanted to be now and not who he was in the past.

First of all- why is a black woman renting this apartment and having to clean up after a bunch of (from what I could tell) white men!?? It’s explained like her friend’s family owns the house and Naomi is getting rent cheap so cleaning is part of the deal to make up for that??? But why do grown (yes I know they’re in college but still) men not just… CLEAN UP AFTER THEMSELVES?!

I didn’t like the male narrator at all especially the voice he did for Naomi was so high pitched and squeaky whyyyyyyy!? cause the female narrator did not sound like that 😭 this definitely didn’t help the spicy scenes which already seemed to come out of left field for me like the language used and the content (like I love spice but I felt like suddenly we were listening to intense language 👁️👄👁️ and I just prefer to have that build a little more idk). The vibe of the spice didn’t match the semi chillness of the rest of the book if that makes sense.

There’s not much hockey, which is fine I guess I just thought there’d be more. At the end
there was this weird like scamming thing related to the hockey team losing or something which seemed completely out of nowhere. And then Finn suddenly remembers some like evidence or something??? But then the book just ends and there was no resolution, he’s just gonna go play for the Eagles now? Which confused me cause that’s a football team…

I really liked this book, it was a fast and nice read. And even though I don't like when characters conceal something important from the other, I found the storyline good and not annoying. Their behaviour was very understandable and their relationship healthy. I also liked that the characters were diverse (in many aspects) (and it felt natural, not forced, just the way it should be).

This was such a lovely read. It was sweet and fluffy and so easy to lose yourself in. I just wanted to stay nestled within its pages and never leave.

Naomi and Finn were so cute/awkward/sweet together. They had me giggling so much! I loved that they bonded online before meeting in person. I also really liked the discussion around girls (especially black girls) having to present themselves in a certain way. I also really liked the way Finn’s injuries were handled, though I wish there was a little bit more there in regard to his PT/rink time/medication use.

Anyway! This was such a cozy, sweet read and I can’t wait to see where this series goes. Sunny Disposition is getting four stars from me! 😊
