My frustrations/confusions are hidden in the spoiler as are not part of the blurb of the book and was a surprise where the story went:
Graphic: Death of parent, Violence, Abandonment, Blood, Medical content, Medical trauma, Injury/Injury detail, Emotional abuse, and Sexual content
Moderate: Child abuse, Cursing, Terminal illness, and Grief
Minor: Terminal illness, Toxic relationship, and Alcohol

This was a sweet dual-POV hockey romance! This is one of the only acceptable grumpy X sunshine where the guy is grumpy. Most of the time, when the guy is the grump, he is just mean/asshole, but that’s not the case here. He really is just shy and emotionally guarded and trying to figure out who he is after his memory loss. I will admit, at first I was not a fan of the whole amnesia plot, but it does grow on me and adds a lot of emotional depth to the story, especially regarding Finn’s character growth. At first I didn’t love that he was kind of aggressive and got in fights often, but we grow to understand and love him as the book goes on. I also liked the juxtaposition between his character and Naomi, who is literally the opposite. She is the definition of “tied together with a smile” by Taylor Swift. She tries so hard to be what other people want her to be that she neglects herself. While Finn doesn’t know what other people want him to be, because he can’t remember, so he restricts so much of himself and his personality for fear of being someone different than he was before his memory loss. I love how they both allow themselves to be their true selves around each other with no judgement. There is so much healing and growth in that, and it was so sweet and tender to see! They really were perfect for each other! And the fact that they fell in love on the game chat and again after his memory loss just cements how perfect they are for each other! It’s so precious!
The FMC has dyslexia, we love neurodivergent rep! I also love how the MMC is not like perfectly chiseled, and that he carries a little more weight on him, while being muscular, like a muscle dad bod which we loveeeee!!!! Also tall girl rep!! They are both 6 feet tall!
I wanted to read the second book in the interconnected series already, but especially now, because there is an important subplot that is not resolved in this book and I need to know what happens in that!! Like hello?? I have no peace!!
Moderate: Injury/Injury detail and Violence
